Two Oregon-based environmental groups have filed a federal lawsuit to block construction of a huge wind farm atop Steens Mountain in rural Harney County.

Gaming the Renewable Energy System

In the suit, the Audubon Society of Portland and the Oregon Natural Desert Association say “energy speculators willing to game the system and take advantage of the state’s strong renewable energy mandates” threaten to “radically transform significant portions of terrestrial landscape.”
 
The “energy speculators” the groups have targeted are Columbia Energy Partners, which plans to develop the proposed $300 million Echanis Wind Project in southeastern Oregon. Upon completion, the project will feature between 40 and 60 415-foot-high turbines on 10,000 acres of private ranch land. The Echanis project is one of two wind farms proposed for locations on or near 9,733-foot Steens Mountain.
 
In an interesting twist, the power generated at Steens Mountain would not go to homes in Oregon but would be sent over power lines to California. Both states have renewable energy mandates, and the electricity produced at Steens Mountain would help meet both states’ renewable energy requirements.

Sierra Club, NRDC Sue Feds To Stop Big California Solar Power Project

Three national environmental groups sued the federal government Monday in a second bid to stop construction of a giant solar power plant in the California desert that they say would harm the imperiled desert tortoise, the golden eagle and other protected wildlife.

The litigation is the latest twist in a seven-year saga over the 663.5-megawatt Calico solar station to be built on 7.2-square miles of government-owned land in the Mojave Desert in San Bernardino County. So far the multibillion-dollar project has changed hands three times, switched technologies and won and lost a contract to sell electricity to utility Southern California Edison.

Back in April 2005, Stirling Energy Systems, an Arizona startup, signed a contract with the utility to sell up to 850 megawatts of electricity to be generated by 30,000 solar dishes that would stand 40 feet high. By the time the California Energy Commission licensed Calico in October 2010, Stirling Energy Systems had been acquired by Ireland’s NTR and folded into a subsidiary called Tessera Solar. Regulators, concerned over the massive project’s impact on the desert tortoise, whittled it down to 663.5 megawatts.

That didn’t satisfy the Sierra Club, which petitioned the California Supreme Court to overturn the licensing of the project. He Did It

CHICAGO—With campaign rhetoric becoming increasingly heated and both presidential nominees releasing more attack ads, a new 30-second spot from the Obama campaign this week accuses his opponent Mitt Romney of committing the 1996 murder of 6-year-old beauty pageant queen JonBenét Ramsey.

Titled “He Did It,” the advertisement asks if anyone can truly remember where Romney was the night of the child’s murder, and whether the U.S. populace wants a president capable of strangling a little girl and dumping her body in her parents’ basement.

President Obama appears at the end of the advertisement to approve the message.

“I think this is a fair ad, and I think Mitt Romney owes an explanation to the American people as to why he murdered JonBenét Ramsey,” said Obama campaign manager Jim Messina, who called the commercial’s black-and-white reenactment of Mitt Romney carrying a kicking and screaming child to her death “accurate.” “Ultimately, voters need to know who they’re getting with Mitt Romney: a job- and child-killing businessman who is so deceitful he won’t release his tax returns or admit to a senseless murder that shook the nation to its core.”

Scheduled to run in multiple swing states, with significant airtime in Ramsey’s home state of Colorado, the ad criticizes Romney not just for killing the prepubescent girl, but for going to extreme lengths to cover it up. It also states that Mitt Romney paid former school teacher John Mark Karr to falsely come forward as the murderer, and accuses the former Massachusetts governor of being a sex offender.

Over a silhouette of Romney walking away from the Ramsey mansion—blood dripping from his hands—the commercial’s narrator asks, “If Mitt Romney kept the murder of JonBenét a secret from the American people, what else is he hiding?”

Moreover, at the end of the spot a smiling Romney is seen at a campaign event saying, “I killed her, and I had a good time.” Sources from the Romney campaign were quick to announce that the audio and video had been cobbled together from different statements he made during that particular rally.

“Personally, if I killed JonBenét Ramsey, I would have come clean and told the American people that on day one,” Obama’s communication director David Axelrod said on Sunday’s installment of Meet The Press. “But I think that’s a key difference between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. Barack Obama never murdered a child, and Mitt Romney did.”

According to sources at Obama’s Chicago headquarters, the “He Did It” commercial is just the first in a new series of attack ads that accuses Romney of drowning actress Natalie Wood in 1981, convincing cult leader David Koresh to burn down the Branch Davidian ranch in Waco, TX, and causing the Challenger disaster.

“I think these ads will end up being very effective,” former Bill Clinton campaign strategist Dick Morris said. “If you are an undecided voter and you are constantly seeing images of Mitt Romney standing over a child’s lifeless body, or, as in the case of the ‘Zodiac’ spot, shooting two high schoolers at point blank range on their first date, that’s a pretty persuasive image right there.”

Added Morris, “This ad very effectively reminds us that no child murderer has ever been elected into the White House.”

An early June 2012 solicitation posted on the FedBizOpps.gov website details the US Armies need and eventual purchase of a wide variety of riot control gear including riot shields, batons, and body armor.

The contract, eventually awarded to A2Z Supply Corp, lines up directly with a long line of reports, drills, purchases, and statements that indicate that the federal government is preparing for an eventual large scale confrontation or civil war with the American people.

The order came a little more than a month after the even more recent solicitation and purchase by the Department of Homeland Security of around 150 sets of riot gear with a mere 15 day delivery period.

The solicitation was posted on July 25, 2012 with a response date of July 26, 2012 and delivery a mere 15 days later.
The items required are: 147 “Upper Body and Shoulder Protection” which are brand name or equal to “Centurion Soft Shell Riot Control System (CPX2500),” along with 152 “Thigh-Groin Protector” brand name or equivalent to “Centurion TPX200,” 156 “Forearm Protectors” brand name or equivalent to “Centurion (FP100),” and 147 units of “Hard Shell Shin Guards” brand name or equivalent to “Centurion (TS70),” 147 carry bags brand name or equivalent to Exotech (E4), 147 tactical gloves brand name or equivalent to “Damascus (DMZ333),” and 147 riot helmets brand name or equivalent to “MaxPro (TR1000).”

As noted by Paul Joseph Watson, preparation for civil unrest in America has been underway for years.

Back in 2008, U.S. troops returning from Iraq were earmarked for “homeland patrols” with one of their roles including helping with “civil unrest and crowd control”.

In December 2008, the Washington Post reported on plans to station 20,000 more U.S. troops inside America for purposes of “domestic security” from September 2011 onwards, an expansion of Northcom’s militarization of the country in preparation for potential civil unrest following a total economic collapse or a mass terror attack.

A report produced that same year by the U.S. Army War College’s Strategic Institute warned that the United States may experience massive civil unrest in the wake of a series of crises which it termed “strategic shock.”

“Widespread civil violence inside the United States would force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order and human security,” stated the report, authored by [Ret.] Lt. Col. Nathan Freir, adding that the military may be needed to quell “purposeful domestic resistance”.

Sadly, just as the government and military beef up their anti American arsenal, gun grabbers, through the corporate controlled media, are once again attempting to take guns out of the hands of law abiding American citizens.

An academic study about the future use of the military as a peacekeeping force within the United States written by a retired Army Colonel depicts a shocking scenario in which the U.S. Army is used to restore order to a town that has been seized by Tea Party “insurrectionists”.

 

The paper, entitled Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A “Vision” of the Future, was written by Kevin Benson and Jennifer Weber. Retired Colonel Benson, a seminar leader at the University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies at Fort Leavenworth, also served with the 5th Infantry Division, the 1st Armored Division, the 1st Cavalry Division, the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, XVIII Airborne Corps and Third U.S. Army. Weber is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Kansas.

The paper begins by emphasizing how the U.S. Army’s Operating Concept 2016-2028 dictates that the military’s “full spectrum operations” will include “operations within American borders.”

Homeland Security boss Janet Napolitano is facing a mega lawsuit from an official who claims she gave a less-qualified woman with whom she has a 'long-standing relationship' a job over him.

The suit also accuses Napolitano of turning the department into a female-run 'frat house' where male staffers were routinely humiliated and on the receiving end of 'sexually charged games'.

Napolitano's chief of staff Suzanne Barr repeatedly targeted men because of their gender and once called a male employee's hotel room to use sexually explicit language, the suit claims.

Hayes first worked as a border patrol agent in 1995 and then served as director of ICE Detention and Removal Operations in Washington, DC, but was demoted after Napolitano's appointment, he claims.

In February 2009, she appointed Schriro as a 'special adviser' and began pushing him out of meetings, the lawsuit says.

Hayes claims that Schriro, who is now commissioner of the city Department of Correction, was not as qualified him for the role as she did not have as much law-enforcement experience.

'Schriro did have experience, however, working with Secretary Napolitano,' it writes. 'Schriro enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the secretary.'

Culture Wars

Last week I spoke to a woman who was deeply worried about the direction our country is going today...especially since she was an Obama voter in 2008. She was looking to me to give her some reasons to change her party affiliation for the first time in her life.

I was more than happy to devote my entire morning to exposing this Obama Regime in full detail. I supplied enough information for her and her friends to study on and ponder for weeks to come. As I was getting up to leave, however, she stopped me to say one worrisome thing...

"But Obama and Michelle are rock stars".

I am posting this today to partially quantify my post of yesterday titled..."Are We Done Yet". My intention here is to express my concern over what has become a battle of the rock stars and Hollywood elite for the minds of the American sheeple.

We are indeed done as a culture and a republic when we allow "intellectual giants " such as these porn stars, actors, and commedians to form public opinion and government policy. 

I cite these GREAT AMERICAN examples from the Left Coast... Sean Penn, Chris Rock, Will Ferrell, Whoopie Goldberg, Al Franken, Johnny Depp,  Stephen Speilberg,

CARACAS (Reuters) - U.S. actor Sean Penn joined President Hugo Chavez at an election rally in Venezuela on Sunday, bringing a dash of Hollywood to the campaign as he rode with him atop a truck past cheering supporters.

Penn is a friend of Chavez, who hopes to win a new six-year term on October 7. The campaign has turned into the toughest fight of the president's political career.

"Thank you very much for visiting us again, dear friend," Chavez said after introducing Penn to the big crowd in the central city of Valencia. "We're all Americans, from the north, the center, the south. Long live the American continent!"

Since April, big-screen stars George Clooney, Will Ferrell and Tom Hanks have all contributed to Obama's re-election campaign, as have Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Garner, Michael Keaton and Eddie Murphy.

Small screen stars also donated in droves, including talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, "30 Rock's" Alec Baldwin, "Glee's" Jane Lynch, "House" star Jennifer Morrison, "Lost" creator JJ Abrams, "Monk" star Tony Shalhoub, Yeardley Smith (aka Lisa Simpson), "The Big C's" Oliver Platt, "Frasier" star David Hyde Pierce and former "ER" star Anthony Edwards.
And while it may come as little surprise that Hollywood's elites are backing a Democratic candidate, the sheer number of headlining stars who have donated to a candidate this early on in a presidential campaign is unprecedented.

This is the most corrupt President and administration in recent history. Obuma's trail is lined with Chicago thug tactics, personal gains on the backs of political enemies wrecked by slander and innuendo, cronyism, favoritism, nepotism, money laundering and payoffs. Our national security is put at risk by this president and Romney is correct in pointing that out. Be it a Freudian slip or not, Mitt's assumptions are on the money.

FOX 59 News Romney attacked the administration over recent leaks of national security information, laying responsibility at the president's doorstep and calling it "a national security crisis." The leaks include news of U.S. cyber-attacks against Iran

"This conduct is contemptible," Romney said. "It betrays our national interest. It compromises our men and women in the field. And it demands a full and prompt investigation, with explanation and consequence.... The time for stonewalling is over."

Back in 2010, Rep. Darrell Issa called Obama one of the most corrupt presidents in history, and pledged to investigate his administration.  To wit:

You And I Are Members

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are "Baby Boomers" getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We have worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don't know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days. 

 We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam . We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so.
We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield.
We didn't fight for the Socialist States of America ; we fought for the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave." We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner , America , and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America .

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the "Hope and Change" which in reality was nothing but "Hype and Lies."

You have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don't like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or "Climbing the Social Ladder" to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the "Great Lie" in 2008 are now having buyer's remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn't have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the 'Kool-Aid.' Now you're paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom.

This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don't worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2012 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we're going, and in 2012 we're going to the polls by the millions.

This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. It belongs to "We the People" and "We the People" plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren. So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the "Grey-Haired Brigade."
