FRIDAY...

NEWS9 has confirmed that the Steubenville Police Department arrested two individuals on Friday night after getting reports that they were seen waving guns.

That happened along Market Street outside the Heritage Place Apartments. One of those individuals was a male juvenile, the other was an adult.

Police say they responded in seconds and when they arrived the male attempted to ditch the weapon on the front seat of a vehicle and the teen ran into the apartment complex where he was later found, as well as the weapon.

They were both arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail.

Police say the male adult will face charges for felonious assault and tampering with evidence.

The juvenile will face charges for tampering with evidence and weapons under disability.

The juvenile is being held without bond.

YESTERDAY...half a block from my current residence

Steubenville police are investigating a report of shots fired in the downtown section of the city.

Police responded to the intersection of Ross and North Seventh streets just before noon. There were no reported injuries, and as of Thursday afternoon, police had found no evidence that shots were actually fired.

According to police, witnesses said they saw two groups of black men all dressed in the same clothing in that area.

Police located a hat and a vehicle but said it's not clear if that will help in their investigation.
