“We’re starving because they’re starving the Postal Service,” said strike organizer Jamie Patridge, a retired postal worker. “We’re here to tell Congress they should be ashamed."

A group of postal workers striking against proposed cuts to the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) declared a "people's victory" late Saturday after holding a fast for six days.

The small group of retired and active letter carriers, calling themselves the Communities and Postal Workers United (CPWU), had staged protests on the National Mall and Capitol Hill this week to raise awareness about proposed legislation that would reduce the USPS delivery week to five days.

Cutting mail delivery to five days will eliminate 80,000 postal jobs, according to postal unions.

“We will not stand by as our beloved postal service is destroyed,” Tom Dodge, a postal worker from Baltimore, said in a statement from the CPWU...

High school: Hackers Get Involved in Steubenville Football Rape Case

 

Computer hackers hijacked the website of the Steubenville High School football team late Sunday, threatening to release the personal data of school officials, coaches and every player on the team if those involved in a suspected rape did not publicly apologize to the girl and her family.

A group calling itself Anonymous, a hacker collective, and KnightSec posted a note and a video on the Web page of the Big Red, a program known for its dominance.

The note stated that the city was protecting its beloved football team by charging only two players with the rape of a girl “when everyone present was guilty.”

In the video, a person wearing a Guy Fawkes mask said that the names, Social Security numbers, addresses, names of relatives and phone numbers of people connected to the case were being compiled and would be made public if an apology from those involved did not come before Jan. 1....

The unauthorized video posted on the team’s website referred to the case of a 16-year-old girl who prosecutors said was raped on the night of Aug. 11 at a series of parties in and around Steubenville. Twitter comments, a photograph on Instagram and at least one video that was posted on YouTube that night documented the rape, prosecutors said.

Trent Mays, 16, of Bloomingdale, Ohio, and Ma’lik Richmond, 16, of Steubenville — two sophomore standouts on the football team — remain on house arrest on charges that they had raped the girl when she was too drunk to resist. Their trial has been set for Feb. 13 in juvenile court.

The case has shaken the team and divided Steubenville. The night of the party, residents began taking sides, with some blaming the girl, saying she was trying to defame the team with her accusation. Others said the suspected rape occurred as a result of a hero-worshipping culture of a city obsessed with high-school football.

At a hearing in early October, two football players and one wrestler testified for the prosecution at a probable cause hearing, with one witness stating that he had seen Mays rape the girl in the back seat of a car while the girl was slurring her words and was unable to walk on her own. That witness said he videotaped the rape, but later deleted the video from his phone. Another witness testified he saw Richmond rape the girl while she was motionless and naked on the basement floor at one party.

The hackers posted the names of those witnesses, as well as the names of other witnesses they said saw the rape. They referred to those witnesses as “targets.”...More at Columbus Dispatch

Bloggers Are Sued...ACLU Intervenes In Rape Case

STEUBENVILLE...Herald Star - The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio announced Friday it has offered to represent a number of anonymous defendants in a lawsuit in Jefferson County Common Pleas Court concerning the blog postings about a juvenile rape case investigation.

Cody Saltsman and his parents, James and Johna Saltsman, filed the lawsuit and injunction in connection with comments made on the blog prinniefied.com, operated by Alexandria Goddard, address unknown, in connection with a rape investigation.

The Saltsmans are seeking an injunction to have alleged false and defamatory statements removed from the blog site. The family also is seeking monetary damages and a public apology.

An Unchecked Presidency Given To Tyranny

George Carlin once observed that the biggest oxymoron is “military intelligence.”

Lt. Colonel Wesley Miller appeared to confirm that premise last week after it was announced the Obama administration gave 20, F-16’s to Egypt at taxpayers’ expense when he stood at the podium to say, “The US-Egypt defense relationship has served as the cornerstone of our broader strategic partnership for over 30 years.

The first delivery of F-16’s in January reflects the US commitment to supporting the Egyptian military’s modernization efforts. Egyptian acquisition of F-16’s will increase our militaries’ interoperability and enhance Egypt’s capacity to contribute to regional mission sets.”

To paraphrase a line from The Hangover, “Sir, you are literally too stupid to insult.” Either that, or you and the Architect-Supreme of this lunacy believe Americans and the world alike to be capable of swallowing tripe whole.

This asinine comment was matched in fatuousness by an observation from Lockheed VP, John Larson, who opined, “This is a great day for Lockheed Martin and a testament to the enduring partnership and commitment we have made to the government of Egypt.” Why would that be, Mr. Larson? Because the Mexican drug lords don’t have any fighter pilots? Bad comparison, I guess, because Eric Holder’s ATF renegades had with clear approval already supplied them with military assault weapons. A better example would be to enhance North Korea’s air force so it might increase its ability to threaten South Korea and Japan, other allies who must be befuddled by what is going on with American foreign policy and wonder if they will be the next one’s to be deemed “expendable.”

Would it not have been better for Mr. Larson to exult that his corporation just sold over $216 billion dollars worth of the world’s most technologically superior fighter jets at a handsome profit for his corporation and for the colonel to admit he’s a dull-edged tool in the Obama administration, that he wasn’t worth his silver oak leaf, and that he is complicit in rationalizing the arming of a radical Islamic nation bent on total annihilation of what was once one of our two best allies in the world. Why the charade?

It’s a good thing Russia sells Venezuela its Sukhoi’s or they might be next in line for a freebie. Regardless a cloak is no longer used by Mr. Obama to hide his proclivities, his actions make it clear that he, like other Muslims, is intent upon the destruction of Israel, and bent further upon complete destabilization and weakening of the United States. So where is Congress during this maelstrom?

Must every tragic mass shooting bring out the shrill ignorance of “gun control” advocates?

The key fallacy of so-called gun control laws is that such laws do not in fact control guns. They simply disarm law-abiding citizens, while people bent on violence find firearms readily available.

If gun control zealots had any respect for facts, they would have discovered this long ago, because there have been too many factual studies over the years to leave any serious doubt about gun control laws being not merely futile but counterproductive.

 

Guns are not the problem. People are the problem — including people who are determined to push gun control laws, either in ignorance of the facts or in defiance of the facts.

There is innocent ignorance and there is invincible, dogmatic and self-righteous ignorance. Every tragic mass shooting seems to bring out examples of both among gun control advocates.

Some years back, there was a professor whose advocacy of gun control led him to produce a “study” that became so discredited that he resigned from his university. This column predicted at the time that this discredited study would continue to be cited by gun control advocates.

Every year in the United States nearly a half million children are tragically killed. The top two causes of these deaths are:

1) Car Accidents

2) Drowning

It's time America gets serious and does something about it. NO ONE needs a semi-automatic assault car, like this one:

 

 

And no one should be able to buy, sell, or own more than a gallon of water without a permit and proper government approval.

 

 

Yes, the pro-car lobby will wail and gnash their teeth, and the NCA will have a hissy fit. But how long can a civilized, democratic society allow our children (and adults) to be maimed and killed by these cars and fluids?

Every year, 260,000 children are killed and 1,000,000 injured in car accidents. A significant number of these deaths and injuries are perpetrated by semi-automatic assault cars.

Every year, 175,000 children are killed and as many as 3,000,000 injured by water in high capacity containers.

When will we say enough is enough? Compared to the number of children killed by firearms every year in America - approximately 1000 - the car and water deaths are astronomical! Approximately 260 children are killed by cars to every 1 child killed by a firearm!

Stop the insanity NOW. Write and beg President Obama to make a law that bans the purchase, sale, and ownership of both semi-automatic assault cars and high capacity water containers.



This is not intended to in any way lessen the tragedy of what just happened in Connecticut. But the reality is that firearms are used 2.5 million times a year in America to PREVENT a crime, usually without a shot even being fired. That's over 6000 times A DAY, according to FBI statistics (see John Lott).

Twitter is currently going crazy with anti-gun rhetoric, the usual suspects coming out in droves to spew emotionally charged invectives in all directions. As I said after the election, I think we really have reached the tipping point - America is no longer worthy of being a free country, with individual liberty for all. The Other Side has spent nearly 100 years propagandizing and dumbing down the masses to the point where the majority is truly clueless and doesn't even know what they're asking to give up.

It's a sad, sad day. America really is over.

You Are Employing Union Thugs

 

Thirty five federal employees with the U.S. Department of Transportation are being paid tax-funded salaries averaging more than $135,000 annually, but they don't do work for the public. They work full-time for unions.

The 35 and their salary data were obtained by a conservative political activist group, Americans for Limited Government, which submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the DOT. A total of $4.8 million was paid by the government for the full-time salaries of the union officials.

"It is obscene that in one department alone, taxpayers are being stuck with almost $5 million in public employee union salary costs," said Bill Wilson, ALG's president. "These unions collect member dues and should pay for their own employees."

Republican Gov. Rick Snyder on Tuesday signed into law two bills that prohibit unions from collecting fees from nonunion employees, marking yet another major defeat for organized labor in the Rust Belt.

But perhaps more shocking than the fact that Michigan — Michigan! — is now a right-to-work state is the fact that many of the legislation’s most staunch opponents have gone virtually unchallenged in their rhetoric.

“Whoever votes for this,” Michigan Education Association President Steve Cook warned on Monday, “is not going to have any peace for the next two years.”

The next day, Democrat State Representative Douglas Geiss threatened right-to-work supporters from the floor of the Michigan House of Representatives.

“We are about to undue 100 years of [labor progress],” said Rep. Geiss. “And there will be blood.”

 

Thankfully, Geiss didn’t mention anything about milkshakes.

 

“We will relive the Battle of the Overpass,” he added, referring to a violent 1937 incident involving union workers and Ford Motor Company security guards.

The Michigan House of Representatives Democratic Caucus even tweeted (and later deleted) Rep. Giess ominous remarks:
