Texas Gunslingers

Just for fun today, I have compiled a selection of actual Texas gunslingers...NO WUSSES HERE!

The Texas Air National Guard's 149th Fighter Wing's flagship F-16 returning to Lackland Air Force Base after being painted to honor the 65th anniversary of the unit's affiliation with the Air National Guard, Sept. 29, 2011. H/T to Buck
Why Carry a Gun?
My old grandpa said to me 'Son, there comes a time in every man's life when
he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and
usually it's when he becomes too old to take a whoopin.'
I don't carry a gun to kill people.
I carry a gun to keep from being killed.
I don't carry a gun to scare people.
I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.
I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid.
I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.
I don't carry a gun because I'm evil.
I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.
I don't carry a gun because I hate the government.
I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.
I don't carry a gun because I'm angry.
I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.
I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.
I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.
I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy.
I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.
I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man.
I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.
I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate...
I don't carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.
Police protection is an oxymoron.
Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the
crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.
Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take
an "ass" whoopin'.....author unknown (but obviously brilliant)

Governor Rick Perry

Oh OK...she could probably whup me hands down without the gun!

Small world! In the picture with the Battle Flag and cannon, the girl on the left is my fifth daughter Dixie quite a few years ago. This was in Taboro, NC on the Common for an annual reenacting event. Did you find the picture on the Internet or on one of my sites?

I might just have to drive down to Lackland to view the beauty with my own eyes.

Note to Brock: Excellent photo!

Just lucky as it was taken with a 2.0MP camera and I sure wish they would not grow up, but remain that age always!

As the father of two beautiful young women myself, I wish I didn't have to look at Brock's daughter while thinking all sorts of sinful thoughts about some other man's little girl in the pic that follows...

"I think she could whup me, even without the gun" - no doubt, since I'd only put up enough fight to make it interesting...

; o(p

Good lord, I truly am a dirty old man....

I liked the "Why Carry a Gun",
My choice is the Ruger LCP like in the picture.

Virginia Gentleman, if you please.

:) My childhood friend, Jay Adams, married the younger of the two Bowman sisters, Nina and ran Virginia Gentleman until they sold it, though they still have specialized bourbon, but I haven't had any yet.

I thought you were from Ohio. Where in WVA? I went to military school in Lewisburg.

I was born in Eldersville, PA...raised in Colliers (Weirton), WV,and now live seven miles away in Stupidville, OH. I am in the northern panhandle---tri-state area. I claim WV heritage though as my grandfather was reared near Sistersville or Pink...I am not sure of his exact homestead.

Brock Townsend said...

Thanks. How did Stupidville get it's name?

That is my observation after some years visiting and living here in "Steubenville", OH. It's real nickname is "Lil Chickago" and it suits quite nicely. This town has been ruled by the Mob for decades, then the unions, then the Democrat Liberal machine. Clinton's Urban Redevelopment" and Johnson's Great Society along with the influx of YUTE gangs that came with it have dumbed down our local community quite nicely...I have a stepson and one sister to prove that...sad to say.
