The Demoncat Attack Dogs Have Been Loosed

NBC told this blog today that it would investigate its handling of a piece on the “Today” show that ham-handedly abridged the conversation between George Zimmerman and a dispatcher in the moments before the death of Trayvon Martin. A statement from NBC:

“We have launched an internal investigation into the editorial process surrounding this particular story.”Great news right there. As exposed by Fox News and media watchdog site NewsBusters, the “Today” segment took this approach to a key part of the dispatcher call:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.
Here’s how the actual conversation went down:
Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.
Dispatcher: OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?
Zimmerman: He looks black.

The difference between what “Today” put on its air and the actual tape? Complete: In the “Today” version, Zimmerman volunteered that this person “looks black,” a sequence of events that would more readily paint Zimmerman as a racial profiler. In reality’s version, Zimmerman simply answered a question about the race of the person whom he was reporting to the police. Nothing prejudicial at all in responding to such an inquiry...From The Deacon's Bench

Every media outlet from ABC, NBC...on down the line... has been released on this one racially charged issue in order to distract from the real problems we are facing in America, the hard choices that we must face this November, and the real Obama record over the past three years.

Finally, a 7-page article in the New York Times covering the details of Trayvon Martin's death at the hands of George Zimmerman. While still not truly objective, this article doesn't overtly drumbeat for a left-wing cause (just an undercurrent I sense, but I'm attuned to these undercurrents and can sniff 'em out like a drug dog can sniff out a doper's hidden stash, no matter where it might be). Read the article; here's my comment, awaiting approval from the likewise-attuned left-wingers who run the New York Times...
A thoughtful article, filling in some of the gaping holes that more boisterous media outlets overlooked (for example, some reported that Trayvon's body sat in a morgue for three days before it was claimed). And thank you! for not again posting that beatified photo of Trayvon, taken long before this encounter.

Also, for a left-wing publication, I'm happy to not find the drumbeat for gun control. I'd counter that always-underlying sentiment with insistence that parents have more control over their minor children; perhaps not allowing so much 'bad influence' from attitude rappers and mindless peers, bad influences that turns good-hearted kids to getting tattoos and gold-tooth displays at such a young age; making their future employment problematic.
However, the attack on the Second Amendment, has begun...Read the Biden remarks here...

This case will resolve itself, after further scrutiny from the top down. But we must answer a more important question than just this youth's untimely death. Why, when the New Black Panther Party put out a 'bounty' for George, even including a wanted poster, have not heard from the chief Law Enforcement officer in the land, President Obama, condemning them? That to me is a serious matter. Barack said Trayvon could resemble his son if he had one; why couldn't George also be like a figurative son? Equal protection under the law should apply, regardless of skin color, or so it seems to me.

House Democrats are moving to pass gun control and race-based legislation in the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting, The Hill reports today. Members of the Congressional Black Caucus want to end “Stand Your Ground” laws – laws designed to allow people to defend themselves rather than running when threatened with serious bodily harm. They have sponsored a resolution claiming that the Martin killing was a “crime,” suggesting that “racial bias led to the use of deadly force,” and lamenting “the inconceivable fact that his killer remains free.” The evidence in the Martin case remains unclear, at best.

But wait, there’s more:

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), another CBC member, is crafting a proposal requiring members of neighborhood watch groups to be registered before taking to the streets under a watchman's badge.

And [Rep. Frederica] Wilson, who represents the district where Martin lived, is working on legislation to create a national commission "to study race-based injustices, health disparities and economic disparities affecting African American men and boys," in the words of the congresswoman.

Never let a good crisis go to waste. The words of Rahm Emanuel certainly sum up the goals for these members of Congress.

If one wasn't a racist before, crap like this could sure lean a fella in that direction. The longer the race baiters run a muck, the worse it will be.

This is just another case of a s Liberal solution looking for a problem to solve. Holder asks the question, "When did affirmative action ever begin?"...It will never end.
