Kerry exposes Iranian family tie — and subjects family to blackmail

Posted By Kenneth Timmerman On 1:26 PM 03/25/2013
In a greeting to the Iranian people on the occasion of the traditional New Year (Nowruz) holiday last week, Secretary of State John Kerry exposed a secret that journalists and academics have been agonizing over for the past six weeks: the fact that his daughter has married an Iranian-American who has extensive family ties to Iran.

“I am proud of the Iranian-Americans in my own family, and grateful for how they have enriched my life,” Kerry said in the official statement. Kerry also said he was “strongly committed to resolving” the differences between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, “to the mutual benefit of both of our people.”

Kerry's daughter..."Off The Hook"

Politicians like to keep their families off-limits to the press, a decorum enforced vigorously when it comes to politicians who are in favor with the national media but ruthlessly discarded for others. But in Kerry’s case, there could be larger ramifications.

Since its inception, the FBI has vetted U.S. government officials involved in national security issues, and it generally won’t grant clearances to individuals who are married to nationals of an enemy nation or have family members living in that country, for fear of divided loyalties or, more simply, blackmail.

Behrouz (Brian) Nahed and Vanessa Kerry Nahed are both resident physicians at Mass General in Boston. An Iranian government website first published pictures of the married couple in February, just as Kerry was up for confirmation hearings before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Dr. Nahed’s parents live in Los Angeles, but he has relatives still in Iran. The Iranian website reported that shortly after their marriage, the young couple visited those relatives in Iran.

Was the Iranian publication itself a subtle form of blackmail, aimed at letting Kerry know that the regime is fully aware of his son-in-law’s extended family in Iran? The Islamic Republic systematically puts pressure on family members of prominent Iranian-Americans (for example, individuals who work at the Persian service of Voice of America), to make sure that they do not engage in hostile statements or activities against the Tehran regime.

Certainly, Secretary Kerry has long favored a U.S. rapprochement with the Islamic Republic. He has repeatedly appeared with groups such as the American Iranian Council (AIC), and has taken money from Iranian-Americans for his political campaigns, including at least one illegal donation from an Iranian woman who did not have a green card. So he didn’t need to have an Iranian-American family member to believe that the United States should forge direct relations with the Islamic Republic or ease U.S. pressure on the regime.

Kerry may have figured that by revealing the family tie himself he could diffuse the situation, and make it more difficult for the regime to put pressure on his son-in-law’s family. Of course, that’s assuming Kerry in fact plans to do anything that angers the regime.

But what if the regime simply decides to round up Nahed’s family members and torture them? Or sends its goons to visit them at home? Or exerts some form of more subtle pressure on them that gets no publicity, and then makes it known they want the United States to release Iranians jailed in the United States on terrorism charges or for attempting to procure weapons technology or military spare parts?

In any other administration, such a complicated situation would have been considered an unacceptable security risk for a cabinet-level officer. My guess: Now that the cat is out of the bag, a fawning left-wing media will attempt to gin up public sympathy for Secretary Kerry, and lionize him for bravely reaching out to Tehran.

While that might send shivers down the leg of a Chris Matthews, it won’t resolve the very real security risk. The mullahs in Tehran and their goon squads won’t hesitate to exploit this messy situation for their own benefit.

One can only sympathize in advance with Behrouz Nahed’s family in Iran, and wonder at the audacity, naiveté and hubris of an American politician who apparently thinks his position (and positions) put him above it all.

The Talkin' Jackass Rides Again

D.C.-area governments shun Obama's gun control

In a stunning rebuke to President Obama, four Washington-area governments, one just 19 miles from the White House, have rejected his sweeping anti-gun agenda and are threatening to quit a regional government group pushing for Democratic-style gun control.

Loudoun County, Va., Frederick County, Md., Manassas City, Va., and Fairfax City, Va., have all signaled that they oppose a gun control measure adopted by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, with Loudoun, Frederick and Manassas City threatening to stop funding the influential group.

We Got A New Pimp On This Corner Man

Apparently Al Sharpton is getting a little too long in the tooth at MSLSD.

It must be that he just can't cut the mustard with the new Race Pimps in the hood like Toure Neblett...

Kyle Becker...I don’t have much patience for hired hacks who dine out on race-baiting, but this is worth mentioning. You see, Touré is the arbiter of all ideas and whether they are compatible with certain races or not.

Lazy is the new N-word.

If you are black, you are not supposed to believe in limited government and economic opportunity, you are genetically determined to believe in a huge nanny state and endless government entitlements. Doesn’t sound patronizing and condescending towards blacks at all, does it?

Dr. Carson recently told CNN’s Jake Tapper that he would “seriously consider” running for office, and the Democrats are already clearly concerned.

“It’s not my intention to do that, but what I’ve said is if a year-and-a-half goes by and people are still clamoring for me to do that, and there’s no other very good candidates, I would certainly have to seriously consider it. The likelihood of that is incredibly small, so I’m not really planning on that.”
There’s not really much else to say, because I’m pretty sure Dr. Carson would wipe that grin off of Touré’s face if the two ever had a face-to-face debate. But if there’s anything that sends chills up the spine of Democrat Party operatives, it’s an intelligent black conservative.

Rush Linbaugh began ripping Toure as a "young fool" in the segment preceding the one captured here. Nevertheless, Rush managed to get in several more "young fool" references in the recorded segment. Listen here. Touché , Toure?

Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness." -- Mary Frances Berry, former Chairwoman, US Commission on Civil Rights
10) “Well, because the Arabs who were involved in 9/11 cooperated with the Zionists, actually. It was a cooperation. They gave them the perfect excuse to denounce all Arabs. Or at least thought you deserving of their scorn.” -- Barack Obama

The First Church Of Chicken Little

The Sierra Club’s releases are a major source of mind pollution

By on 3/25/13

Rich Trzupek’s insightful piece in Friday’s American Spectator(“Obsessive-Compulsive Environmentalism”) outlines how Big Environment is a well-financed industry, just another political player in the Washington establishment — like Big Labor, Big Business, Big Education, et al. — and as manipulative, shrill, and self-interested as anyone in town.

Environmentalism for many of its members is also a religion, replacing the faith of our fathers with concern for the spotted owl, and other fashionable but inconsequential eccentricities. The groups in the green lobby — The Sierra Club, Greenpeace, the Environmental Defense Fund, Friends of the Earth, et al. — amount to upscale Earth worship cults, peddling a form of eco-paganism to Lexus luddites. The meaning that traditional religion has supplied in the past is pumped back into otherwise vacant post-everything lives through competition to see who cares for the planet most. Care for the planet being expressed through support of fantastical policies that would destroy our economy but would not improve the environment.

Back to the industry point, environmentalism is hardly an economic weak sister. Ian Murray of the Competitive Enterprise Institute in his 2008 book, The Really Inconvenient Truths, reported that these eco-groups have hundreds of thousands of members each, more than two million in the case of Sierra, and had annual resources then in excess of a half billion dollars. We’re not talking about a dowdy group of down-at-heels bird-watchers. These folks have lots of money and enormous clout.

Unlike large financial institutions that have been declared too big to fail, Big Environment is too big to succeed. No one on this gravy train wants to step off of it, even though America is a much cleaner place than it was in 1970, in many cases as a result of sound legislation whooped up by environmental groups decades back when their goals and methods were more sensible. If America ever became so clean the entire continent could pass a Marine Corps white-glove inspection, no one in the Sierra Club would ever say,“Mission accomplished.”

As Eric Hoffer taught us, great causes almost invariably evolve, in a straight line, from a justified moral crusade, to a business, to a racket (see the civil rights movement in America). Environmentalism has reached the racket stage, where the folks running the enviro-organizations grossly exaggerate environmental problems and make up new ones (see global warming) in order to keep the members worked up and the money rolling in. They use the most extreme and emotional rhetoric, and are uncivil to anyone or any group that opposes their fantastical agendas, which are based at least as much on left-wing ideology as on concern for the environment.

Enviros are more conspiratorial than even the tin-foil hat division of the far right. They’re apocalyptic. At the Sierra Club, the end of times is always right around the corner if we don’t immediately turn the economy over to Al Gore.

For those tempted to say — “Well, they may be a little extreme sometimes, and their policies, if adopted, would turn America into a third world country. But they’re well intentioned” — please look over some purple prose from recent Sierra club press releases. Then determine how well intentioned you believe the granola crowd is.

In a March 15 release, the club urges President Obama not to support vehicles that use natural gas, as gas is a fossil fuel and therefore evil, contributing as it does to what enviros call “the climate crisis.” Sierra wants no new drilling for oil and gas and no fracking:
The President should instead go all in on electric vehicles and clean energy sources like wind and solar, while boosting common sense climate solutions like energy efficiency.
A March 12 release demonstrates that Sierra’s concerns for the birds of the air and the fish of the sea can be stretched to support a more general left-political agenda. Here are some temperate remarks by Sierra executive director Michael Brune on Congressman Paul Ryan’s proposed budget, which in enviro-think is nothing more than Republican’s perverse desire to pollute the planet:
With this budget, Paul Ryan is trying to revive the dirty fuels agenda that the American people rejected in last November’s election. It’s policy that nobody but the big oil and coal billionaires who bankrolled his campaign could love. Today, Ryan and Congressional Republicans released a budget proposal straight out of the polluters’ playbook — one that doubles down on dirty fuels, throws open the gates of our public lands to destructive drilling, mining, and fracking, and hands billions in tax breaks to the biggest oil companies in the world.
Wow. Makes you want to check under the bed for oil speculators before turning in.
Catching his breath, Brune goes on:

Polls show the American people want investment in clean energy jobs and climate solutions. But instead, this proposal tries to gut our clean energy economy while decimating programs that keep our air and water clean and subjecting our families to more climate-poisoning tar sands, oil, and coal. Of course, if Paul Ryan listened to the American people, he might be in the White House right now. Instead, he’s doing the bidding of fossil fuel billionaires, forcing their reckless agenda into our national debate and forcing American families out.

Hmm. I guess I was out of town that weekend and didn’t catch the polls Brune is talking about. If a large number of Americans wish to dismantle the economy in the name of global warming, and wish to see more Solyndras, word has not reached me.

America has sufficient domestic oil and gas to tell the Saudis and the Venezuelans to bugger off and to return to economic growth. But thanks largely to policies pushed by the Sierras and like-minded types, we’re prevented from recovering and using a large fraction of these resources. A big part of our energy future, if we can sneak it past the granola crowd, is natural gas. The Sierra Club not only doesn’t want America to use natural gas, it doesn’t want us to export it either.

10 Reasons Climate-Change Hysterics Continue

Anthony J. Sadar...March 25, 2013
Here are 10 winning reasons for continued climate-change hysterics:

1. Indoctrination from grade school through graduate school has inculcated the "incontrovertible conclusion" that people are destroying the planet. By acting to save the earth, precious self-esteem is elevated, while guilt is assuaged.

2. Lack of depth of understanding about science and scientific practice, not only because of being uninitiated, but partially because inadequate science education has left the public either clueless about, intimidated by, or apathetic to science in general and climate change in particular.

3. Man-made climate-change hype acculturation has infused acceptance of human culpability into the psyche of everyone, from industrialists and businesspersons to the "man on the street."

4. Billions of dollars are up for grabs with consultants making beaucoup bucks advising on carbon credits, technocrats raking in the cash with carbon dioxide control and sequestration contraptions, and researchers securing grant money to tie every wind of change to human excesses.

5. Those who sincerely believe they know the long-term future of the global climate are committed to the cause. Commitment can be admirable, but nobody, no matter how smart, can predict the future climate decades ahead with any serious degree of accuracy. That has already been demonstrated with the leveled temperature trend that belies predictions. (Could it be that if humans are responsible for a significant portion of the global warming in recent years, that we could be witnessing the maximum effect people have on the planet's temperature?)

6. Politicians and bureaucrats can increase their power over the proletariat. Control of energy is near ultimate control.

7. Journalists and bloggers have found a juicy, fruitful topic to squeeze.

8. Environmental and social activists have discovered a new "higher-calling" cause to champion and cash in on.

9. Sales of T-shirts and bumper-stickers advertising imminent world environmental cataclysm and its simple solutions--"Go Green," "Hug a Tree," "Love your Mother (Earth)," "Death to Deniers" (I just made up that last one, I hope!)--would dry up like the Aral Sea. Without such capitalistic merchandizing where would socialism be?

And last, but certainly not least:

10. People get to defend their deeply held religious beliefs and can feel they're doing something good for Jesus, God, the Buddha, Vishnu, Gaia, the Universe, children or grandchildren, pets, polar bears, plankton.

So, everybody wins... everybody that matters, that is, but not the middle-class who ultimately end up footing the bill, and definitely not the poor who are simply used as a sanctimonious diversion, yet end up as impoverished as ever.

Guns Don't Kill People...

A 53-year-old man climbing a fruit tree in a village in northern Malaysia had a narrow escape when he was shot and wounded by a friend who mistook him for a monkey, a report said on Tuesday.

Yahya Ahmad from the northern state of Kedah was putting protective coverings on jackfruits in an orchard owned by his friend, the Bernama news agency quoted police as saying.

"The suspect was tracking a monkey which he said had been causing damage to his fruit trees that morning and saw the branches of the jackfruit tree shaking. He shot at the spot and hit Yahya instead," an officer said.

Yahya, who taps rubber for a living, escaped serious injury because the shotguns pellets that blasted his body and leg did not penetrate deeply, he said.

The incident occurred after a shooting tragedy in eastern Kuantan state over the weekend, when a man hunting wild boar shot his friend by accident and then turned the gun on himself, police said. Link

... idiots with guns KILL people.

More From The Elmer Fudd File...
Wow, a guy got shot in the face! Crazy, you don’t hear about that happening to often…unless you live in St. Louis and then it happens every few months.
Authorities say that the male victim was inside of a home when someone knocked on the door. When the victim opened the door, he was reportedly shot in the face by the suspect.

Come on! The face?! Really. Why? Why right in the face? Who is this guy? Elmer Fudd? That dick seemed to always aim for the face too. Seems pretty clear looking back on it now that Fudd’s sick ass wasn’t really after the duck or rabbit meat, he just liked to kill.
The suspect then allegedly flees, and the victim ran across the street to a neighbor to ask for help.

There were several other people in the house at the time.
The victim ran across the street for help? Is getting shot in the face not as bad it sounds or were the other people in the victims house so incompetent that jogging across the street with a handful of your face still a safer play than just turning around and letting them help? Lots to be confused about here.

United Steelworkers EPIC FAILS...Hiring Filmaker

Steelworkers gathered at the Local 1190 union hall to reminisce as the building was slated to close Friday at the close of business...VIDEO

"It's a shame," said George Mosholder, of Steubenville. "There's not enough people working down here. Not enough steel jobs available to people."

"They sold this country out a long time ago," said Frank Runfeld.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, came to Pittsburgh today to give a pep talk to a room full of women.

"It is women who will lead us forward," she said in her keynote address this morning at the United Steelworkers International Women's Conference, taking place this week at the Wyndham Grand Downtown.

Scott Prouty, recorder of ‘47 percent’ video: An unlikely political gadfly

Court records show that that Internal Revenue Service in 2006 secured a more than $15,000 federal tax lien against Prouty for unpaid taxes from 2000 and 2002. It was unclear whether Prouty has repaid the money.

The records also show that an insurance company obtained a more than $5,700 default judgment against Prouty and a woman named Susan Dibella in 2009 in Broward County, Fla., court. Attorneys in the case did not return telephone calls, and a telephone number listed for Dibella had been disconnected.

In another bout with the court system, Prouty in 2011 filed a sexual-harassment lawsuit against Gulfstream Park Racing Association, which runs a number of horse-racing casinos in South Florida. According to the lawsuit, Prouty worked at a Gulfstream facility for 31/2 years as a bartender but was passed over for promotions in favor of female employees who were “having sexual relations with management.”

Prouty was fired, and the case was dismissed after mediation, court records said.

WASHINGTON -- Now that he's gone public, Scott Prouty, the man behind the infamous "47 percent" video of Mitt Romney's remarks at a Florida fundraiser, has been in talks to work for the United Steelworkers union in a role that's yet to be determined, the head of the union told HuffPost on Thursday.

Steelworkers President Leo Gerard said the union met Prouty through Charles Kernaghan, a labor rights activist who heads the Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights, headquartered in Pittsburgh. Prouty had gotten in touch with Kernaghan, who'd been researching Bain Capital and outsourcing as Prouty anonymously disseminated his video last year. Gerard said that union officials met with Prouty at the presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C., in January, before the videographer was willing to go public.

Gerard explained his respect for Prouty, paraphrasing a quote from President Barack Obama that one voice can change a room, that room a city, that city a state, and so on. "I think Scott Prouty is one voice that changed the country," Gerard said.

"He's going to come work for us," Gerard went on. "We're going to sit down and talk. He has lots of skills, and we'll try to put him in a place where he can use the skills he's got."

I would guess that Prouty will be hired to create a film depicting the 2016 GOP candidate...Titled...

Obama's Bungled Kidnapping

It's even worse than we previously thought. A retired four-star admiral is now claiming that Barack Obama intentionally conspired with America's enemies to stage a bogus attack and the kidnapping of an American ambassador so he could "negotiate" the release of a "hostage" and bolster his mediocre approval ratings just prior to the election?

The Washington Examiner, quoting retired Four-Star Admiral James Lyons, writes: "the attack on the American Consulate in Benghazi... was the result of a bungled abduction attempt.... the first stage of an international prisoner exchange... that would have ensured the release of Omar Abdel Rahman, the 'Blind Sheik'..."

But something went horribly wrong with Obama's "October Surprise." Although the Obama Administration intentionally gutted security at the consulate prior to the staged kidnapping, former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty disobeyed direct orders to stand down, saved American lives, single-handedly killed scores of attackers...and the attackers, believing that the Obama had betrayed them, tortured Ambassador Chris Stevens and dragged his body through the streets.

Some will say that Admiral Lyons' accusation is not a smoking gun. We agree, that's exactly why Congress must investigate Benghazi-gate.

Moreover, we firmly believe the problem with Admiral Lyons' assertion is that he is only scratching the surface the full and complete truth may be much, much worse.
