Al Sharpton, ‘PoliticsNation’ Advertisers Targeted in New Boycott

“Sharpton is a racial extortionist who has instigated racial animosities, violence, and division in America for the last forty years,” write the boycott’s organizers. “In better times, Sharpton would be stigmatized and condemned for the damage he has done. But today he is a primetime host on MSNBC—the charter cable news network for NBC News, and a favored outlet for the Obama administration’s spin doctors.”

The boycott is part of Truth Revolt, a new project by the David Horowitz Freedom Center, a right-wing foundation that has focused on what it calls liberal bias in Hollywood and on college campuses. Truth Revolt, which says its purpose is to “unmask leftists in the media for who they are, destroy their credibility with the American public, and devastate their funding bases,” is led by Ben Shapiro, an editor-at-large for the conservative website Breitbart News and the author, most recently, of Bullies: How the Left’s Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences America.

The first Sharpton sponsor the group is targeting is Ritz Crackers, owned by Chicago-based Mondelez International. Shapiro said Truth Revolt chose Mondelez because it bills itself as a “family-friendly company” and because it was one of the few advertisers to respond to the group’s inquiries about why it supports the Sharpton show.

Obama Gamesmanship

I’m guessing, using the game of chess as a metaphor for conducting world affairs, Obama doesn’t have the brains to sit at a chess table.

“Negotiating with Obama is like playing chess with a pigeon.

The pigeon knocks over all the pieces, shits on the board and
then struts around like it won the game.”

Good Read...THE RULES OF POKER AND THE RULES OF LIFE

HA!  That’s your president, not mine.  I respect the office, not the fraud living in the White House, who duped ignorant voters, and basically with the help of ACORN and dead voters stole the election.

Mark Levin to Obama: You lay one hand on WW2 vets and I’LL BRING HALF A MILLION PEOPLE TO THAT MEMORIAL!

Hear Mark Levin at This Link

"I want to say this loud and clear to the people on Capitol Hill who are listening, to this administration. You lay one damn hand on one of those World War II vets at that memorial and I’ll bring half a million people to that damn memorial! You got that?!"

"I’m sitting here stewing thinking about this – playing these damn games? You’ll ignite a movement in this country like you’ve never seen before! The biker patriot army – veterans from all over the country, every single war and battle in this country, Republican, Democrat, Independent, whatever!"

Bureaucrats At Tiny Federal Agency: FMCS Buy Legions Of Luxuries With Purchase Cards

"Just Sign Here: Federal Workers Max Out at Taxpayer Expense."

One federal employee leased a $53,000 take-home car with taxpayer money in apparent defiance of federal regulations and regularly billed the government for service at shops such as BMW of Fairfax.

Others charged the government monthly for family members’ cell phones and high-end TV packages and Internet at home — and even at second homes.

Managers freely made out checks to employees without requiring documentation of how it would be spent, giving $1,316 directly to one who said she was reimbursing herself for furniture she bought for a “home office” and using convenience checks to give workers bonuses.

Government employees used federal purchase cards to order items such as a $560 Bose stereo and $1,490 for two high-definition televisions that could not be located.

All of these examples happened at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, an obscure runaway government agency where the median annual salary is $120,000.

That amount far exceeds the national median household income but it wasn't enough for many FMCS employees, many of whom routinely charged nearly every conceivable expense to government credit cards known as “purchase cards,” according to bank records reviewed by the Washington Examiner.

Even the bank didn’t know where much of the money went, because it was paid using checks with an “illegible payee.”

Bluetooth earpieces and leather-bound Kindle e-readers for large groups of employees. More than $200 for a "table lamp." Coat racks for two employees costing nearly $400. Air purifiers. A $2,300 cabinet to house an equally expensive TV in an official's office.

In two years, the 233-person agency bought at least 38 LCD projectors costing up to $9,500 each.

Employees bestowed expensive awards and tokens of gratitude at every conceivable opportunity, spending more than $30,000 in two years on picture frames alone, ostensibly for certificates marking workers’ tenure at the agency and other occasions.

They spent $3,930 at Balfour Products, a company listed in expense records as selling "jewelry, watches [and] clocks" and items akin to class rings.

In mere months, the agency spent at least $6,500 at Image Pointe, a union swag company, on "promotional" items designed to advertise the federal agency, including towels with the FMCS logo, coasters, hats, and lights.

Officials with FMCS declined to grant any interviews with employees regarding any of these purchases, or allow an Examiner reporter to visit.

Instead, the officials issued a short statement saying the damning bank records and internal emails only came to light because of a “disgruntled FMCS employee.”

But it wasn't "disgruntled employees" who charged small amounts at grocery stores near their homes on weekends. Staffers shopping in everyday stores such as Best Buy and CVS regularly purchased convenience items as trivial as "pencil pouches" for $30 each.

James C. Donnen, the agency’s IT director, had the government pay $219 a month for internet at his home in West Virginia, $60 a month for a landline there, $60 a month for Internet at another home he kept in Virginia, and $181 a month for two cell phones. The outgoing voicemail on one of those cellular lines identifies it as being for his wife, Tara.

Donnen got a bonus — as did half of all FMCS employees — of $3,000 on top of a $113,000 salary, even though he had to spend $500 on Experts-Exchange, a message board where beginner technologists ask questions of better-qualified ones. (There are many free message boards performing the same service.)

He regularly wildly overpaid for unnecessary items on his government card, spending, for example, $500 apiece for USB thumb drives, $710 apiece for computer monitors and $5,500 for a device to keep computers' clocks in sync.

Donnen is, at least, a fan of in-depth coverage of world affairs: He charged his Kindle subscription to USA Today to the government.

The federal government was a regular customer of the coffee shops and restaurants that surround the FMCS's K Street headquarters, with Cosi's, K Street Cafe and Bagel, and Firehook restaurant raking in the government purchase card dough.

FMCS employee Lynda G. Lee had the feds pick up the tab at Thirsty's Sports Bar, while colleague Linda Gonzalez shopped at Barnes and Noble and Crate and Barrel.

There are supposed to be controls on what types of purchases government credit cards will process, but those controls can be short-circuited by, as Gonzalez did, requesting in an email that “I would like my Visa purchase card ‘unblocked’ for any unexpected costs,” according to emails obtained by the Examiner.

Wednesday: Reckless FMCS spending goes right to the top.

Excerpt...

Top officials of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service lavished taxpayer funds on themselves, made the phantom company of a recently retired employee one of their largest vendors and spent tens of thousands of dollars on storage spaces near their homes, where they kept old beds and toys.

George H. Cohen, the agency’s top official, used a “recreation and reception fund” freely, ordering a $1,277 "navy blue leather chair," $208 wooden coasters for his office, and bottles of Champagne, according to disbursement records reviewed by the Washington Examiner.

Cohen, who was appointed by President Obama in October 2009, also used the fund to purchase artwork by his wife, whose paintings are sold through the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Virginia, said a former employee, Berkina Porter, and a current employee with knowledge of the buy.

IRS Targeted Dr. Ben Carson After Prayer Breakfast Speech

Just months after he gave a speech earlier this year that challenged America’s leadership in President Obama's presence, Dr. Ben Carson was targeted by IRS agents who requested to review his real estate holdings and then conducted a full audit without finding any wrongdoing.

“I guess it could be a coincidence, but I never had been audited before and never really had any encounters with the IRS,” Dr. Carson said in an interview Thursday with The Washington Times. “But it certainly would make one suspicious because we know now the IRS has been used for political purposes and therefore actions like this come under suspicion.”

Dr. Carson first hinted at the problem earlier this week during a speech in Alabama when he made a vague reference to having his first “encounter with the IRS” earlier this year.

Dr. Carson told The Times that IRS agents contacted him in June — less than four months after the speech — and requested to review his real estate holdings. After finding nothing that concerned them, the agents then informed him they were conducting a full audit of his finances, and then asked to go back an additional year to review his records, he said.

They finally ended the review in August after finding no problems, Dr. Carson said.

“They told me everything was in good standing and left,” he said.

Asked whether he thought the audit was a retaliation for his speech, Dr. Carson quipped: “I guess I’m surprised it took them that long.”

He said the more serious issue is that the IRS has been politicized — “something that should never have happened” — and that leaves all of its activities open to suspicion.

Help Save The Postal Service...The Government Has So Few Agencies Now To Waste Money On

Comrades,

It is our pleasure to announce that the four-postage-stamp 2013 Obamacare Collector Set is now available to the masses.

You will appreciate the intricate detail and marvel at the complexity of the design. Each stamp just beckons the owner to slap a cancellation mark all over them as soon as possible, to give them that authentic used stamp feel.

A fine addition to any collection, these stamps will also make great gifts. As we all know, Red October is just around the corner!

Bloomberg is reporting that a government shutdown means that fewer people, about three-fourths of The World’s Most Dangerous Community Organizer’s 1,701-person staff, would be sent home.  That means fewer people to cook meals, do the laundry, clean the floors and change the light bulbs.

Of the 90 people who maintain the president’s family living quarters, only 15 would remain to provide minimum maintenance and support and Joey Plugs, who has a staff of 24, would have to eek by with 12.

There will be fewer economists tracking the economy and fewer budget officials to track spending.  Policy decisions on the environment and drug policy might get postponed.

Remy: Obamacare Video Contest Song

WaPo Ponders Ways to Punish Congress for a Shutdown: “Line ’em up and shoot ’em”

It's a dark day for our Republic...

Washington AP - The National Zoo's beloved panda cam and all other live animal cameras from the zoo have gone dark with the government shutdown.

The zoo itself will be closed to visitors starting Tuesday. A zoo spokeswoman says the live animal cameras went offline Tuesday morning and furloughed (NON-ESSENTIAL) staff will be allowed to conduct an orderly shutdown. Officials say the shutdown won't affect care of the animals.

As expected media coverage today on the limited Obama government shutdown runs the gamut from shrill to hysterical. From Obama’s slobbering minions at the Washington Post comes suggestions on how to punish Congress.

How charming. So how do we give our representatives what they deserve?

“No pay and must enroll in Obamacare,” urged an investment banker.

One longtime friend, a French teacher, offered her Francophile solution: “Off with their heads.” Mais oui.

On the street, working Washingtonians were no less brutal.

“Line ’em up and shoot ’em. I consider what they’re doing treason,” said a D.C. retiree who runs a T-shirt stand near a Capitol Hill Metro stop.

“Or make ’em spend a night in D.C. Jail,” said his partner.

At the kind of Capitol Hill bar with dark windows and a 3 p.m. drinking crowd, the TV was tuned to “Shutdown 2013” coverage.

“They’re acting like toddlers, and we should treat them like toddlers,” said Mr. Gin and Tonic. “We need to put them in a big playpen and give them a huge timeout.”

At Le Bon Cafe, where plenty of lawmakers get their cappuccinos every morning, the 24-year-old manager said that Americans should flood the streets in protest.

“If I don’t show up for work, I’d get fired,” he said. “We need to fire all of them.”

So the Washington Post is now in the business of advocating violence against elected representatives. Swell.

In case that one goes down the memory hole, here’s the screengrab.

“Line ’em up and shoot ’em. I consider what they’re doing treason,” said a D.C. retiree who runs a T-shirt stand near a Capitol Hill Metro stop.
